Their are numerous products on the market for cleaning your tile and stone.
Some of these cleaning products can damage your tile or stone. Your flooring
and countertops are often one of the largest investments many homeowners
purchase for their home. Help extend the life span of your flooring by
understanding the PH levels of some of the products that you may have
in your cabinets.
To clean your stone we as the tile and stone cleaning experts recommend:
- Do not use acidic compounds on stone.
- Use a neutral based stone cleaner. You can find one of these at Home Depot,
Lowes and most tile and stone retailers. We recommend Modern Stone Balance
and Stone Tech Revitalizer. Both of these products can be purchased at
Monterrey Tile. If you wish to order online, the Stone Tech product can
be purchased through Amazon.com.
Cleaning porcelain and ceramic tile.
PH Neutral cleaners are best for regular cleaning, but a slightly acidic
formula is okay on porcelain and ceramic tiles.
- Leaving the grout and tile in an acidic state inhibits dirt accumulation
after cleaning.
- For acidic cleaning, we recommend a mixture of vinegar and water. We have
included a PH guide for commonly used cleaners below. With 7 being a rating
of neutral, we do not recommend cleaning with an extremely acidic (<7)
or alkaline (>7).
