Don't replace it; re-upholster that special piece of furniture

It is that time of year again. With all the hustle and bustle of the holiday
season it is easy to lose sight of the meaning behind it all. The holidays
have a different meaning and hold special memories for each and every
one of us, but what we can all agree on, is that the holidays are a time
to come together with family and friends and to take the time to just
enjoy each other’s company. Thanksgiving time and dinner is filled
with a great feast of food and time spent catching with one another. Christmas
brings the brightly colored decorations, a celebration of giving and receiving
with our loved ones. We each have our own reasons for giving gifts and
our own idea of what a gift should be.
There are no rules that say a gift has to come in any particular shape
or size. Why not think outside the box when deciding on a gift for this
holiday season? Maybe you don’t need to go out and buy something
that is brand new. Recreate a special memory by giving the gift of restoring
what your loved ones already own.
Is there a piece that has been in the family for many years that has been
passed down by generations? Take an inventory of your furniture and think
about what can be repaired, restored or re-upholstered prior to the busy
holiday season that is quickly approaching right around the corner. How
comfortable is your sofa? Is it time to replace the old padding, to restore
the cushions or simply have it cleaned?
This will help make the hours that you spend visiting with your loved ones
much more comfortable for those long hours of catching up. We all seemed
to own one of those older recliners that everyone wants to just sit back
and relax in. Has it seen better days? Don’t replace it; consider
making repairs, re-pad or even reupholster that special chair. Before
you gather around that dining room table for a wonderful tasty meal, the
furniture experts suggest that you have those wobbly chairs re-glued to
ensure they are safe and secure.
Did you know that you can restore your furniture back to its original condition
to make it look and feel brand new again?
Most importantly, this holiday season, it is important to remember the
size of gift does not matter; the greatest gift of all is the act of giving
itself. What is more joyful than watching the special people you care
about open a gift that you chose especially for them? It is a gift of
its own just to see the joy you are able to bring to others. It doesn’t
matter if it is a monthly service gift or just a one time gift. It is
the thought that counts.
