Slow down if you’re driving when it’s raining. Remember that
during the beginning of a storm can often be the most dangerous time,
because all of the old oil and other automotive fluids can cause the roads
to become very slick. Don't neglect the importance of your car maintenance
before the Monsoons arrives this year. Regular maintenance is different
depending on the season. There are many items of your car that should
be checked or replaced on a regular basis. Here are just a few:
Visibility can be an issue with all of the dust and blowing debris, so
slow down and try not to change lanes unnecessarily. Using your emergency
blinkers make you more visible. If you decide to wait out the storm, pull
off to the right side of the road and turn your car off with your foot
off the brakes. Otherwise, another driver may assume you are still moving.
You should never cross the road if it is marked with a "Do not cross
when flooded" sign. Don't neglect the importance of your car
maintenance before the Monsoons arrives this year. Regular maintenance
is different depending on the season. There are many items of your car
that should be checked or replaced on a regular basis. Here are just a few:
- Oil changes are recommended every 3,000 miles or three to six months regardless
of what type of driving you do. It is recommended to replace the oil filter
every time the oil is changed.
- Battery Maintenance can vary depending where you live.
- Brake pads will often squeal when they are applied by driver. This is an
indication they should be replaced.
- Air filter should be changed annually or every 15,000 miles for preventative
